Bottom Bread. -The top bread should be neatly trimmed and free of crust. -The meat should be centered on the top bread, and should not extend more than ½ inch from the edge. -Veggies should be evenly distributed on top of the meat. BLTs should be made with toasted bread and the tomato needs to be in the middle between the lettuce and bacon. The toast adds to the crunch with the lettuce (one of the few cases where iceberg is acceptable) and bacon and the soft texture if the tomato in the middle.
